VALENTINE'S DAY 2020: WHEN LOVE BITES (AGAIN)

Guest User

IMG_6865 (1).JPG

I express my love in many ways but one of the ways I instinctively express my love is through the creation of beautiful nourishing food made for those I care about…

To celebrate the International Day of Love we are offering our special raw cacao + rose petal LOVE BITES. These balls were so well received last year that we are rolling them out again this year (no pun intended). We formulated them by taking our signature raw cacao bliss balls and rolling them in organic rose petals for a decadent and sensual finish… and re-birthed them as LOVE BITES.

Sold individually or in packs of 6, these are handmade on site at Broth Bar & Larder, using certified organic ingredients.

Share a packet with your lover, your children (who are my greatest loves!), gift to a special person or indulge as a special gift to yourself! While Valentine’s Day might traditionally be a celebration of romantic love, I like to draw a broader bow and see it as a celebration of love in all its guises.

I hope they make your and your love one’s heart sing as much as my team and I have loved crafting them for you.

HOW TO PURCHASE:

These limited edition Valentine’s Day Love Bites can be purchased:

1. Via our online store (for Sydney and Wollongong residents) OR
2. In store from Broth Bar & Larder in Bronte and best to pre-order by calling 0421 786 009 OR
3. Email orders@staraniseorganic.com with your contact deets and we will take care of everything for you.

We have only made a limited amount and will not be making more when these sell out so please get in fast or pre-order to avoid disappointment.  Pre-order ends online Feb 13.

I hope your Valentine’s day is infused with bites of love...and remember that whatever we do, and why we do it, all comes back to love. To either feel loved or gift love.

If you need to exercise to lose weight, then something is wrong with your diet

Our ancient DNA requires us to move and the benefits of doing so are indisputable especially in regards to cardiovascular health, mental health, osteo skeletal health, strength, stamina, muscle tone and increasing longevity. These are the primary reasons to move and to move daily in a way that our ancient DNA requires (walking, swimming, stretching, and functional movement like strength and interval training).

But if your primary motivation to exercise is to shed excess weight, then something is wrong with your diet. There’s no point flogging yourself in exercise if you’re eating a SAD (Standard Australia / American Diet) which is high in processed foods especially refined carbs. You cannot out train a bad diet!!

If you’re keen to drop excess fat, start with getting the diet right:

Eat what we are biologically designed to eat which is an omnivorous diet rich in nutrient-dense whole (unprocessed) foods where the focus is on the quality of the ingredients- namely their source and their processing.

Confused or curious to learn more? Invest in one of my all day FOOD AS MEDICINE GROUP TALKS:

> Melbourne Sat 23 May
> Sydney Sat 24 oct

I co-present these Food as Medicine with leading holistic dietician Marieke Rodenstein and our collective forte is to combine the wisdom of ancestral diets with the latest developments in nutritional medicine and robust science, to provide you with all the tools and resources you need on how to nourish your body and optimise your health.

These talks have been described as “life changing” — keep scrolling to read just a few of our testimonials.  The way that you eat and live should be SUSTAINABLE, ENJOYABLE and NOURISHING to every cell of your body. Once you align your lifestyle factors with your biology, the excess weight will melt off. Scouts honour! Plus you’ll experience a myriad of health benefits you never thought possible.

Make 2020 your best one yet and do it in a way that doesn’t feel like hard work but feels more like coming home - into a body that is simply the best possible version of yourself!

I attended your ’Food as Medicine’ and ’Essential Oils’ workshops in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago. It was honestly the best experience I have had in a long time. I felt as though I was busting with joy, being handed the blueprint for a life that has long appealed to me, but which I have struggled to implement. I feel awakened and informed, ready to wholeheartedly pursue a better life, nourishing my whole self as nature intended. I can’t thank you both enough for your amazing work, thank you for sharing your knowledge and empowering people to reclaim their health. I look forward to attending any future workshops you are running!

I am LOVING my high fat diet since the food is medicine workshop! I’m so much more satisfied and it’s helping with my food binges that I’ve been struggling with so much!!!

Soulla, thank you SO much for creating this amazing family. Thank you for the incredible work you do and for bringing so much joy and excitement into my life. I’m forever grateful to you for sharing your knowledge on food and diet & the 8 foundations of health. Your bone broth workshop has made my life SO much easier....I am so grateful to have come across the oils and your workshops and the challenge of then going on to host a gathering of my own & the pride and satisfaction of actually doing that. It brings me such comfort being able to connect with like minded mummas & not feel like a stranded person who is stuck at sea doing all this ‘crazy’ stuff (that I have no intention of stopping cos deep down I know it’s right). I seriously sat on that table yesterday eating that sensational soup just smiling. It was such a wonderful day and all of these people just blow my mind. They’re so beautiful and so friendly and then I got to shop at broth bar on the way home and fill my cupboard with all nutrient dense goodies!
— Kerry
Thanks again for such a wonderful and informative day yesterday. I have gained so much wisdom an empowerment from the session!

One of my cherished values is ‘Optimal Health.’  The day really taught me the ‘fine tuning’ needed to really live this truth. I feel so blessed to have this information as there are so many people out there who are so sick, weak and depressed and have no idea why. I honestly feel that living to the principles you outline gives people ‘the edge’ in life and the brainpower to live an extraordinary life. How exciting. I’m looking forward to detoxifying my home and checking out the ‘pre-conception’ oil protocol through YL too.

Baked Greek Scalloped Potatoes

Guest User

I put my wholefoods spin on this classic Greek side dish which my kids adore!

Ingredients:

500g potatoes
200g onions
100ml tomato puree
50ml extra virgin cold pressed olive oil
50ml chicken bone broth
Unrefined salt
Cracked pepper
Cinnamon powder

Directions:

Preheat onion to 150 degrees Celsius. Line 2 large oven proof baking dishes with baking paper.

Ensure potatoes and onions are roughly the same size. No need to peel organic potatoes but do give them a little scrub or rinse in filtered water to remove any obvious soil.

Use a mandolin to thinly and evenly slice the potatoes. (I like the small Borner mandolin made in Germany sold at most homeware stores).

Peel the onions and thinly slice with a mandolin.

Layer the potatoes and the onions in the baking trays so that for every 3 slices of potatoes add one slice of onion. Continue to layer in a scalloped fashion until all of the potatoes and onions are used up (you may need to use slightly less or more potatoes and onions depending on how tightly you layer).

Blend the tomato puree, olive oil and bone broth together in food processor or in a small container with a stick blender and pour over the veggies to coat them evenly.

Season liberally with salt and pepper and a small sprinkling of cinnamon powder (the secret spice!).

Bake uncovered at 150 degrees Celsius for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender and a rich rosy colour.

Serves 6 as a side.
